So last Friday after a week of a non stop pops up on my radio asking for a mass storage update file, voice program crap and phone connect garbage I took my 2012 ram to my dealer. They tried to install an update file that did not work, leading them to order me a new radio. Today I took it in for the new radio and once again every 10 seconds sometimes less then 10 sometimes more I am getting these annoying pop ups that make me want to smash my radio into a million piece's.
You have no idea how much i hate that female voice Dodge incorporated into the uconnect system. Please help me fix this issue so i can get back to loving my truck and send me a fix? I know there is a proper file out there that will fix this issue! Well, this proves that the dealers are extremely smart. They should know that the Uconnect system is a separte module from the radio in your vehicle. This issue has nothing to do with the radio, there is a message on the CAN BUS network that is being seen by Uconnect and putting it into an update mode.
There is a Chrysler TSB for this particular issue. The TSB is: 08-050-12 The TSB guide can be found at the link below. If you'd like to perform the update yourself that is possible also. Here's the file and instructions for the Uconnect update.Important note: Please make sure that the vehicle battery power is not interrupted.
This could cause damage to the update and the module. The best procedure is to have the vehicle running during the process. You will need a thumb drive of at least 1GB. If you have files on the thumb drive, please delete them and format the drive (to FAT32) just to make sure that it is completely clean Download it to the thumb drive that has no other files on it. Once it is downloaded to the thumb drive, please rename it so the file is uconnect.upd (basically delete everything up to Uconnect.upd). Turn the radio on, Place the thumb drive in the center console USB connector (on vehicles with the dealer installed unit, it should be in the glove box), press and hold the Uconnect button for about 12 - 15 seconds, you should here 'update started'.
This process should take about 15 - 20 minutes, there will be some beeps during the process. Please listen during the update for any error message that may be said by Uconnect. When the update is completed, the radio screen will go back to a radio display.
